Rocío Ogáyar Nicolás
Communications and product designer
Born and raised in Molina de Segura and my personality kind of shows it. I’ve always been restless and sensitive, though mostly on the inside. Rural at heart, but I’ve been on Twitter since I was 13. I grew up in a close-knit neighborhood, surrounded by animals and with my uncles’ dairy farm just a few meters from home. After surviving an emotionally intense science-focused high school program, I decided to prepare for university in Bologna. If I was going to attend college, why not pick the oldest one in the world? I lasted two years in a degree called "Ornamental Plants and Landscape Protection," until the pandemic brought me back home. Back in Murcia, I applied to the School of Design to study Fashion Design. Fortunately, there were no spots left, so I ended up in Product Design instead. Life has a funny way of placing you exactly where you’re supposed to be—and this feels like the right place. During my studies, I discovered my love for self-production and working with my hands. I’ve been playing around with ceramics, printmaking, and biomaterials ever since. Cartonlab brings a lot of that to the table, and here I get to keep experimenting—this time with the website and whatever else comes my way.
