Ignacio Bautista Ruiz

CEO, co-founder and head of marketing. Architect

Born in Albacete just days after the premiere of Star Wars. Unaware of what destiny had in store, he enjoyed a blissful childhood drawing doodles on every scrap of paper he could find. During adolescence, a crisis of faith pushed him toward his studies and inline skating—a combination that earned him an enviable physique and excellent grades, ultimately leading him to the School of Architecture in Madrid. There, he met his future business partners, spent a year studying at IIT in Chicago, worked as a volunteer in El Salvador, and eventually settled in Murcia, where he co-founded the Moho Arquitectos studio during the height of Spain’s construction boom. When the real estate bubble burst, a chain of erratic and contradictory life decisions—fueled by climate change and the entrepreneurial fever sweeping the nation—led him to create Cartonlab, a studio dedicated to eco-design.
