
Fantasy worlds in cardboard
Recreating fantastic worlds is pretty easy and amazing with cardboard. Why? Because it is a material that is always up for customization! You can print it; stick things on it, cut it and fold it endlessly. Also, it is very light and can be reused many times. These are the reasons to point out cardboard as a great choice when designing the staging for a concert, a play or a cool window display. Here, some examples that show what can be done in cardboard:
PAPER TOWN – Vienna, Austria
The guys from Paper Town are specialized in designing decorations for all kind of events. They use cardboard as raw material and, with it, create interesting proposals in order to make the best of every show; multifaceted structures composing a dome for a concert, the most incredible objects, such as spaceships, and architecture for trade shows.

EMPAPERART – Valencia, Spain
Paper, cardboard, and passion are the three elements which combined result in the Valencian studio Empaperart. Every work they carry through is considered to be a piece of art, where color, design, and delicacy blend together to offer the most elegant scenery. They’ve worked for the most exclusive brands, such as Lladró and Diverxo restaurant in Madrid.

OUPAS! – Porto, Portugal
The Oupas! Design studio is formed by Cidália, Joana, and Sofia, three graphic designers based in Porto. They claim to be able of making it all happen and… for what we’ve seen, we couldn’t agree more! Using different techniques, these girls have recreated a Medieval tavern, a real sized cardboard city or the most colorful and fresh tropical atmosphere, fruits included.
